Brief Introduction
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Somalia since 1964. As a service provider with worldwide operations in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ
works with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions. The goal of GIZ is to support the capacity development of people, organizations and institutional structures in the partner countries so as to enable them better their living conditions through their own efforts.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Somalia Federal Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs, is implementing
various projects in Somalia, across multiple sectors and regions. In Jubaland Kismayo, GIZ is implementing regional Project Prosper Blue. The project has 5 Outputs:
Output 1: Strengthening capacities of regional and local actors to collaborate on conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal biodiversity.
Output 2: Ensuring that women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) make use of improved business services for an Inclusive, Sustainable Blue Economy (ISBE).
Output 3: Strengthening the professional, technical and entrepreneurial skills of local actors for an ISBE.
Output 4: Improving the availability of adapted financial services for MSMEs in the Blue Economy.
Output 5: Improving the participation of local communities in initiatives to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity in coastal and marine areas.
The 5 Outputs have indicators leading to project ́s outcome achievements. An essential prerequisite for strengthening the collective contributions of relevant actors for the conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal biodiversity towards an ISBE in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region.
The Prosper Blue Project is seeking a dedicated Project assistant who will contribute to the day-to-today operations of the project.
Responsibilities
➢ assisting with project planning and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the department.
➢ Assist in preparing and organizing project documentation specifications and reports.
➢ Maintain and update technical files and records in a systematic manner in the standard set online folders.
➢ Support in coordinating project schedules, resources, and meeting agendas.
➢ Participate in field visits.
➢ Collect relevant field data file and keep the record and share field reports and minutes to the Project technical team in GIZ coordination office in Kismayo.
➢ Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding technical matters.
➢ Assist in furnishing the office and improving visibility.
➢ Prepare routine reports and progress updates for the technical office.
➢ Provide support to the team, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing presentations.
Skills and qualifications
Qualifications and specialist knowledge
➢ Bachelor’s degree in A degree in social science, or a related technical field or diploma with 2 years of relevant experience. And experience in livelihood and food security is an added advantage.
➢ 2 years of relevant work Experience is required
➢ Experience working collaboratively with different colleagues in teams based across the region and encouraging knowledge sharing
➢ High levels of motivation and proactive and problem-solving mindset,
➢ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
➢ Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
➢ Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
➢ Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
➢ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
➢ Willingness to improve as required by the tasks to be performed and work full time (40 hours per week)
➢ willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.
